No Joke Healthy Food Swaps

My talents do not lie in telling a punchline or keeping a straight face during a practical joke. As you might guess, I’m also a terrible poker player. So this April Fool’s Day, in place of pranks,  I thought we’d discuss a few sneaky treats that taste sinful, but are a bit healthier at their core.

April Fools Healthy Food Swaps

Frozen Banana Ice Cream

Ice cream cravings can be hard to beat, believe me, I know. Given the amount of sugar and fat found in many varieties, it’s best to keep this treat as just that, a treat. However, if you’re looking for some everyday satisfaction, whip up a batch of this Frozen Banana Ice Cream. It’s made from one simple ingredient, bananas.

Cauliflower Buffalo ‘Wings’

Last time I checked, deep-fried chicken wings did not make for a well-balanced meal. Really, the best thing on your plate at one of those wing joints is the celery you use to cool your mouth. Love the buffalo flavor? No worries. Try these simple ‘wings’ made from cauliflower.

Baked Spaghetti Squash

This squash looks like pasta and shares a name with the popular Italian treat, but don’t be fooled. It’s a veggie. This might be the ultimate healthy food in disguise. At first glance, this dish really does resemble a piping hot bowl of spaghetti. The best part is the squash is just as diverse as a noodle – go ahead – google “spaghetti squash recipes.” You’ll have more than your fair share. I think this one sounds tasty and comforting.
